　Hello, everyone. I’m Chiharu Ishizaki and in 72 at Tachikawa high school. I have attended Centenary State High School in Australia since January in 2018.

　I would like to talk about difference and having interest between Australia and Japan.

　1.Nationality

　There are many nationalities such as Australian, Asian, European and African in my school. It’s said that 33% of students are multilingual students. (YA corporation) There are six Japanese in my school. The members of my group in business class consist of Filipino, Chinese and Vietnamese - all Asian countries. I had thought that A few Australians would discriminate against me before I came to Australia because I was Japanese. But it was wrong, and it was just my stereotype. Everyone has a good relationship without a national barrier. I feel that there is still a lot of discrimination in Japan. We must do away with it and it’s important to keep good relationships all over the world. 　

2.Transport

　There are three types of public transport such as bus, train and ferry. Many parents take their children to school by their car. It is obviously rare in Japan because Japanese go to school by foot, bus and train by themselves. So, I was surprised to hear that my friend had never got on public transport by herself.

　Public buses are my most common form of transport. Therefore, I will focus on and discuss bus travel.

　Firstly, there isn’t the panel to show us where next stop is. So, I have to push the button by looking at views around bus when I want to get off. I was very confused the first time I used the public bus because I didn’t know where I was.

　Secondly, when the bus is coming toward the bus stop and I want to get on it, I have to raise my hand. If didn’t hail the bus, it would pass by in front me.

3.History(subjest)

　I wrote about history class in previous report, but I will discuss it in detail. When I read Australian textbook, I was so surprised because there was a lot of information which never appeared in the Japanese textbook. What I was most surprised was about “Nanking Massacre” and “Unit731”. I couldn’t stand to keep reading it because it was unimaginably terrible. I was shocked not only by the contents of textbook but also the situation that it is not in the Japanese textbook. If you are interested in these things, I recommend you look up homepages.

　The other day, I talked about the world war two with an Australian teacher, and Vietnamese and Chinese students. Both of Vietnamese and Chinese students were international students. At that time, I knew it was different things that I had learned in Japan and they had learned in their own country, and how they had felt about the war. If I hadn’t studied abroad, I couldn’texperience such thing.

4. Class style

　There are many differences between the class styles of Japan and Australia.Firstly, there are about twenty students in a room. In Japan, there are double students in the class. But Australian class is very loud. Australian students express their ideas, values and attitudes by speaking up. In comparison, Japanese class is silence. Their reaction for the question of the teacher is fast. So, it’s hard for me to catch up with them.

　Secondly, most of the teacher shows students power point by using laptop. Therefore, they don’t have to write same things every class. It makes the class efficient. Japanese skill of electronic is better than Australian, but Japanese electronics use in class is overwhelmingly lower than Australian. Australian students hand in their assessment by using their laptop. If they weren’t in time of due, the assignment wouldn’t be marked.

　Thirdly, Australian students don’t have their own textbook. (it depends on the school) They borrow it from the school library to use in the class. So, the textbook is recycled every year.

　I went to Sydney during last holiday. Sydney Harbour Bridge is on the right and Opera House is the left.

　In Australia, the holiday has already begun.

　I was wondering as days passes, it‘s getting hotter in Japan. On the other hand, it’s getting colder in Australia because the season is opposite from Japan. Thake care of yourself.

　こんにちは。立川高校72期生の石崎千晴です。2018月の1月からCentenary State High Schoolに通学しています。

　今回は日本とオーストラリアの違いや興味を持ったことについてお話します。

1、国籍　

　私の学校はオーストラリア人、アジア人、ヨーロッパ人、アフリカ人など様々な国の人がいます。33%が多言語生徒と言われています。(YA留学より)日本人は6人いますよ。私のビジネスの授業の班はフィリピン人、中国人、ベトナム人と全員がアジア人と、全員がアジア人で構成されています。オーストラリアに来る前、私が日本人だからと言って差別を受けるのではないかと思っていました。しかし、それはただの私の固定観念であり間違えでした。全ての人が国籍の壁無く良い関係を持っています。私はまだ日本には差別が残っていると感じています。それらを取り除き、世界規模で良い関係を保つことが大切なのではないかと思います。

2、交通

　オーストラリアにはバス、電車、フェリーといった様々の種類の交通機関があります。多くの親が子供たちを車で連れて行きます。日本人は歩き、電車、バスなど自分で行くので親が連れていくことは稀なことですよね。私の友達が一人で交通機関に乗ったことが無いと聞いた時は、とても驚きました。

　私の交通手段としてバスが多いので、今回はオーストラリアのバスについて話します。

　まず、バスには次の停留所がどこなのかを示すパネルがありません。そのため、バスを降りたいときには外の景色を見てボタンを押さなければなりません。最初にバスに乗った時は自分がどこにいるのが分からなったため、とても困惑しました。

　また、バスが向こう側から来ていて、それに乗りたいときには手を上げなければなりません。もし手を挙げなかったらバスは目の前を素通りしてしまうでしょう。

3、歴史(教科)

　歴史については前回の立高報告書にも書きましたがより詳しくお話しします。

　オーストラリアの教科書を読んだとき、日本の教科書では決してアピールされないことを見て驚きました。私が一番驚いたことは「南京虐殺」と「731部隊」でした。とても想像できるようなことではなく見ていられませんでした。私は教科書の内容だけではなく、そのようなことが日本の教科書に載らないことにショックを受けました。もし興味を持ちましたら調べてみてください。

　先日、オーストラリアの先生、ベトナムと中国の留学生と戦争についての話をしました。その時、それぞれの国で学んでいることや戦争への感じ方が違うことを知りました。留学をしていなかったらその様なことは経験できませんでした。

４、クラス形態

　日本とオーストラリアではクラス形態に大きな違いがあります。

　一つ目は1クラスの授業の人数が約20人だということです。日本の半分ですね。しかし授業はとてもうるさいです。オーストラリアでは、発言することによって自分の考え、価値観、態度などを表現します。それに対して日本の授業は静かです。また、先生からの質問に対しての反応が速いのでついていくのが大変です。

　二つ目は、ほとんどの先生がパワーポイントを使って授業をすることです。先生は同じことを毎授業で書く必要が無く、効率が良いです。日本の電化製品の技術はオーストラリアより高いですが、授業での普及率は圧倒的に少ないと思います。また、提出物もインターネット上で提出します。もし提出期限に間に合わなかったら生徒は提出できません。

　三つめは自分の教科書を持たないことです。生徒は図書館で1年の始まりに借りて使うので教科書は毎年使いまわされます。

　前のホリデイにシドニーへ行きました。右側がシドニーハーバーブリッジ、左側がオペラハウスです。

　オーストラリアでは既にホリデイが始まっています。日本はどんどん暑くなっているでしょうか。オーストラリアは日本と季節が反対なのでどんどん寒くなっています。お体にお気をつけてお過ごしください。
